Tips For Operating A Strapping Machine For The First Time

by Amy Nutt

The use of a strapping machine is very important because it is what holds boxes, bundles, and very packages together. These machines are loaded with what is called strapping and the machine dispenses the strapping to hold the boxes, bundles, etc. together. The main reason why this is done is for shipping reasons. Shipping a product in bulk can be done considerably easier if the products are strapped together. This allows for the boxes or bundles to be transported without falling over and grants for the transport of more of the product at the same time. This cuts down on time and manpower.

However, everyone who operates a strapping machine has to experience their first time with it. The first time can be rather daunting because of the fear of doing something wrong. That is why there are very important things to consider when operating these machines for the first time. These tips are:

Safety first. You must listen to all safety instructions given by the supervisor prior to operating the machine. These safety instructions are very important in that the successful operation of the machine relies on them.

Be aware of the type of machine being used. Is it manual, automatic, or semi-automatic?

If the machine is a hands-free machine, remember that jobs are done chronologically and that there’s a cycle time as to not tamper with the machine if there’s a delay in the cycle.

Some strapping machines simply require programming for the type of material being strapped. Be sure to program the machine correctly and to ask the supervisor if unsure. An incorrect strapping can be hazardous for those transporting the materials.

Do not ignore the items being strapped. Even though the machine may be reliable in strapping items correctly, it is always a great idea to check the strapping by giving it a firm tug before it is transported. The last thing you want to happen is a strap break during transport and someone be injured from the ordeal. Although machines seem to be trustworthy, it never hurts to double check. That way, if the strap is weak or broken, the strapping for that particular bundle can be redone.

Again, any questions that need answers should be directed toward your supervisor. A common mistake of new strapping machine operators is that they are afraid to ask in fear that they will be viewed as incompetent. In reality, if questions are not asked and the strapping machine operator takes a guess, the operator could be viewed as incompetent if the job is not done correctly. Asking questions shows an eagerness to learn and not stupidity.

So keep these easy tips in mind. It is more or less common sense and the desire to listen when operating a strapping machine correctly. It more or less depends on the type of machine and the type of goods being strapped that’ll determine how the machines are operated, but no matter what, questions are key. Before long, you will be the one answering questions for new operators because you received the right answers toward operating your machine correctly and efficiently.

Content Insurance – Do Storage Companies Provide Enough?

by Amy Nutt

We all know people who have moving horror stories. Even if a move goes perfectly, it’s bound to be stressful and exhausting. When you are dealing with large-scale moves, large rental trucks and self storage, the stress compounds even further.

Self-storage facilities generally do not have that great of a reputation, whether they deserve it or not. Generally, you get what you pay for. If you use the cheapest storage unit you can find, in the seediest part of town, with the scummiest employees imaginable, you might be putting your precious snow globe collection at risk. On the other hand, you might shell out a small fortune for the best climate controlled, 24-hour attended storage unit you can find, and have an accident or theft still occur. Nothing is failure-proof.

If you’re storing things like pricey furniture, collections, your ideal china, imported rugs or anything else that has a lot of value, you might consider purchasing self-storage insurance. Some self-storage units do offer some type of insurance. Before you go out and spend money on an insurance policy, you should be sure you’re not buying coverage you already have.

However, the vast majority of self-storage units have very strict disclaimers that keep them immune from any theft, loss or damage to your property. When you’re dealing with a self-storage company, be sure to read the entirety of every single document you sign. You want to be fully aware of the policies that may affect your possessions.

If you don’t feel like your possessions are adequately protected from a disaster or unfortunate event by the self-storage contract, self-storage insurance is a good idea.

Generally, self-storage covers damages or lost property that happens due to burglary, lightning, windstorm, hail, fire, smoke, earthquake, building collapse, explosion, vandalism, riot and water damage.

When you’re purchasing your self-storage insurance policy, you’ll want to read it very carefully. Many insurance policies do not cover losses due to floods, especially after the large loss the industry took after the hurricane Katrina disaster.

If you’re concerned about flood or tidal wave coverage and your self-storage policy doesn’t provide it, you can contact the U.S. Government and the National Food Program, which does offer flood insurance. If you are storing your things in a sensitive coastal area, this might be a very good idea.

As you navigate the insurance system and choose an appropriate self-storage insurance policy, you will also want to be very aware of what types of possessions are not covered.

For example, one very popular self-storage insurance policy that many friends of mine have used excludes deeds, bills, currency, evidence of debt, securities, money, notes, jewelry, watches, precious stones, furs, boats, vehicles and some business inventory from coverage. That is a lot of valuable stuff!

If you’re storing things such as the items I just mentioned, I suggest not putting them in a storage unit. Luckily, things like the family heirloom jewelry and deeds, bonds and securities are small enough to put in a bank safe deposit box.

Hopefully after reading this, you feel superior informed about self-storage insurance. Remember, read anything before you sign it!

Instincts: A Businessperson’s Best Friend.

by Michele J Mascaro – www.Joecorp1.com

Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel, once stated “Dive deep into the data, then trust your gut.”

If you believe you’re good, and you’re smart, you can go with your gut. You need to go against the tide. Some of the best business people made it big because they went against what everybody else believed.

You’ve to know what you’re doing, you’ve to have confidence in yourself. You need to know, your biggest successes will come when you make your own path.

It is important to know how to use your instincts. We all have them, you just have to listen to them. You might have superb academic credentials, but if you refuse to listen to your instincts, you will have a hard time being successful.

Nobody can explain exactly why instinct works. Sometimes we get a gut feeling about what we should, or shouldn’t do – even though we don’t know why. Successful people know they’ve good instincts, and rely on them in the decision making process – never really understanding why. Instincts are the deciding factor in many major decisions.

Scientists say that there are nerve cells in the gut that are connected to the intuitive part of the brain. When you know something is right or wrong you can actually feel it in your gut – when you’re in tune with your instincts, it happens more often than not.

Going with your instincts takes practice – it is often hard to listen to yourself. The first step is you must actually decide you are going to tune in to them. Instincts are a part of each highly. Tuning in to them requires extreme focus.

Seeing The Light: Visual Systems Of Representation

by Kenrick Cleveland

In previous articles I’ve written about the representational systems we all use in relation to communication and how we see the world (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic being the most widely used) and the value it has in gaining rapport with your affluent prospects and clients. In this article, I want to focus our sites on visual language.

When people use visual words to represent what they are thinking, words like ‘bright’, ‘vibrant’, ‘I see what you’re saying’, they are processing information visually. If they use these words a lot, visual is their dominant system and the one they are most conscious of.

What kind of behaviors might we expect from someone who’s using predominantly visual words? People who are visual tend to talk a lot with their hands. They generally talk faster as if they’re trying to tell you all of the thousand words that a picture is worth.

If you put a picture in your mind and try to describe that picture to me, you may find yourself speaking a lot. You may find the words just begin flowing and you speak faster and faster, maybe with a higher pitch. The pictures are flipping through your mind without you being able to keep up with them.

Now try reading the last paragraph out loud, sort of fast, and this will give you an idea of how a visual person speaks.

There are a few other things that you will notice. They may often breathe higher in their chest. You may also notice that they need distance between you as they talk. They do not like to stand real close to people, not too close, because what happens is you will be in their picture if you stand too close.

One thing you can use to see if someone is visually oriented is this: when you talk to them, step in a bit closer and see if they back away. If they become uncomfortable with the closeness, they’re most likely visually oriented.

You can do this with a visually oriented person to confuse them slightly, therefore making persuasion effortless. If you notice them looking off into space, point to where they are looking and slide the area around.

You are not hurting them by doing this. Play around with it a little bit. You won’t cause trauma, but will help you to start to see what happens when a person is oriented in this way.

These kinds of people can be very powerfully persuaded. When you find them, you will learn to love what you can do with them.

When gaining rapport it is valuable to understand the representational system your prospect is using. In future articles I’ll explain to you a shortcut on how to do this. Until then, see if you can identify five visually oriented people this week and notice how they talk and move.

by Makas Maseko

With good website content you get the benefit of clearly depicting what it is you want to share with people. Also, good content and articles can lead people to your site. With more traffic, you get to earn more from your site making it profitable. A sites success, be it for profit or not, is the number of the flow of traffic in your site.

There are many of those who cannot afford the time to write their own website contents and articles. While writing content and articles specifically designed for the web might take some getting used to and some researching and learning, there are several writers that can be found all over the world who could do it for you.

Many writers around the world charge a minimal fee depending on the type of writing job needed and the number of words needed in the content. Usually, a two hundred fifty worded article would cost from 4 to 8 dollars depending on the writers experience and ability. This is a small price to pay for having a content rich site or for a well researched and written paper.

The top sites would probably be the ideal since they’ve done a good job of keeping their content at a high quality to get them high rankings. But you might also want to shop around and read some of their sample work to get an idea of how much it will cost you.

The resource box

The internet is the information highway, this phrase has been used so might time it should be nominated for the World wide web Clich Award. People that go to the web are subdivided into groups, but generally, they are out to search information. Whether for gaming, business, fun or anything else the web has provided us with information that has proved to be very beneficial.

But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource bow encompasses only a small space, providing the right keywords and content for your resource box will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site.

One last tip is to use keywords that should be related to your site. Don’t mislead your potential website visitors. Build your credibility so that more people would get enticed to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make the people click your resource box by providing resource box content that makes a lasting impression. You only get one opportunity to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.

Fake Money Used In Movies/videos

by Amy Nutt

In Hollywood’s infancy, filmmakers used real money in their productions, only to run into legal and administrative problems such as workers stealing the money. At the time, very strict laws prohibited the filmmakers from copying, photographing or imitating American currency in any way. This presented Hollywood with a tricky problem. Always resourceful, filmmakers found a way around it.

At the time, there happened to be huge amounts of devalued currency printed by the Confederates during the American Civil War and Mexican Money printed during the Mexican Revolution. Both failed governments had issued a lot of money, hoping the volume would help stave off the money’s declining values. Of course, they failed and the money was useless until Hollywood purchased up caches of both types of cash, and the first Hollywood prop money was created.

Over time, the Confederate and Mexican folding money wore out, and most of it was thrown away or lost. By then, laws governing the reproduction of fake currency had loosened somewhat. Prop-making manufacturers began to print false money.

Much of this early fake money is now available via specialty Hollywood memorabilia stores. The makers of this money often copied Mexican and Confederate designs and used deliberate misspellings like “Steats of Amreica” to be sure the money couldn’t be passed off as real. Many of these designs are interesting and very beautiful to look at. Though the designers were making obvious fake money, they took the time to make it look great.

In more current history, laws loosened even more and the stacks of prop dollars being printed by manufacturers became even more convincing. There have been several incidents where the Secret Service (which oversees American currency and stings counterfeiters) has stepped in and confiscated Hollywood prop money, and forced companies to discontinue printing it.

In one notable case, bills with a total face value close to $1 Billion was blown up during the filming of “Rush Hour 2″ in Las Vegas. A significant amount of the fake money, which happened to be very convincing, drifted into crowds of people in Las Vegas. Knowingly and unknowingly, people began to use the bills. Big amounts of this money began turning up in the Las Vegas and Los Angeles areas. Many bills were being passed successfully.

As the incident grew more widespread, the Secret Service got involved and the company that produced the bills, Indepenedent Studio Services, Inc., became embroiled in legal trouble. The Secret Service deemed their fake money product too realistic and seized the prop money from ISSI’s facilities. Evenutally the company had to stop printing fake money altogether.

This day, prop money is still widely available via memorabilia stores, prop suppliers, private collectors and online auctions. But this prop money is nearly always obviously fake, with indicators printed on the bills. Also, much of this printable fake money is smaller than its real counterpart.

Saving Time And Money With Lighter Furniture

by David Morgan

In multi-functional rooms it is routine for your staff to be moving furniture in and out of storage regularly.

That allows the room to be adapted to different events

Time costs money and moving furniture takes time.

So, if you save 10 minutes a day, the cost saving (at 6 per hour) is 365 per annum

In fact, just 10 minutes saved a day adds up to 3560 over 10 years.

That can make a lighter, superior designed folding table effectively free over the lifetime of the table.

Of course you will never be able to formally identify the consequent saving. But that does not make it any less real.

We distribute lightweight folding tables and chairs and our customers are always commenting on how much time and effort they save each week.

Affiliate Marketing Success Assured By Avoiding These 3 Mistakes

by Tom Sommers

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. This program gives everybody a opportunity to make a profit through the Internet.

Because it is so easy to join and the costs are so low, many people are building an on the web business of their own. The allure of a steady, regular income from home is attractive to almost everyone.

The truth is that like any business, making a significant income takes work. And not just any work. There are some things that an affiliate marketer must do well, and some things that must be avoided if you’re to get off to a good and profitable begin.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate program

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to select a bandwagon product. This is the kind of products that the market thinks is “hot”.

They choose the product that’s in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. They fall for the marketing, which tells them that if they do not get this latest product, then they’re missing out on the only opportunity that has any chance of making any money. Of course they get the same message next week on a different affiliate program. Jumping on board the “hottest product” promotion is not a very wise move obviously.

The answer to this issue is clear. Select a product that you would likely use. Even one that you in fact are using. That way you can write knowledgeably about it and discuss its pluses and minuses. It does not have to be a marketing product. There are plenty of affiliate programs for products that have nothing do to with on the web marketing.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

Can you relate to this scenario? You get excited about a certain affiliate program, and start marketing, but you’re not getting the income you had hoped. And you realize that this is going to be harder than you thought. Then you get an email telling you how this new program is the answer to all your problems.

Making money from a number of sources is without a doubt a desirable situation. But joining lots of programs before you’ve one program making you money will often cause you to lose focus. And this will slow you down even more, making you a prime candidate for falling into the trap of joining every new program that comes along. This can lead to more stress and less success.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

It is really a good idea, when possible, to use the product you are marketing. This way you can know what the product can and cannot do. And when you can speak honestly about a product and mention its shortcomings, then you earn the trust of your readers. You are not just another marketer pushing a product without considering whether it is good or not.

It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself haven’t tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and suggest them convincingly. You’ll also fail to create a desire in your customers to try it for themselves.

Be an unusual affiliate marketer by avoiding these mistakes. Focus on one or two affiliate products until you know the marketing process and are making a regular income, even it is small. Stay focused and add more products as you get good at the regular things you need to do to market any product.
