Cheap Ink Cartridges – What Are Your Choices?

by A R Thompson

Today another essential piece of equipment that many people will require at home if they have a PC is a printer. Yet in order for your printer to function properly it needs power and ink cartridges. However for many people when buying a printer for use at home they will go for the cheapest and most basic model simply because the price of replacement cartridges can be high.

The cost of ink cartridges will depend upon the make and model of machine and for more advanced machines you could expect to pay in the region of $40 for just one cartridge. Because of these high costs more and more people are looking for ways to buy them cheaper and so save money. Below we look at the alternatives that people can now use in order to get cheaper ink cartridges.

The first option available to you for saving money when the ink runs out in your printer is to use a ink cartridge refill kit. Although inexpensive and easy to complete. If a person does not follow the instructions provided correctly and use the syringe properly then the who task can turn out quite messy really. If you don’t like the thought of doing this yourself you could use the services of a professional instead.

However in order to get this done by a professional you need to find a company close to where you live who provides such a service. The only other alternative is to send the cartridges away to be refilled. But the problem with this is unless you have a spare cartridge you can not do any printing until the cartridge has been returned.

With refill kits or using a refill service may seem a lot of bother even though it saves you money. But if you don’t want to use this then you could instead go for a third party cartridge rather than buying one that has been made by the manufacturer of your printer. Buying third party ink cartridges could often save you between 30 and 90% of the original price that you would pay for an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) one.

Over recent years companies such HP and Epson has seen a marked reduction in the number of OEM ink cartridges being sold. Simply because people are suddenly realizing and choosing to buy third party ones instead. What makes matters even worse is that the prices of printers have come down considerably and in some cases to a situation where it is cheaper to replace the whole printer rather than just the cartridges in it.

Although a few years back the ink used in both third party and refill kits was not of the same standard as that found in the brand makes. This situation has now changed and the quality of ink is as good as any you will get in the printer manufacturers ones.

So really the only way to save money when it comes to printing costs is to use one of the options mentioned above. But if you are worried about the quality of the printing that these cheaper alternatives provide, don’t be. In fact the quality of the printing is as good as that the manufacturers owner printer ink cartridges will provide you with.
