If you are downloading games from the internet onto your PC before you put them on to your PSP rather than directly on to your PSP you need to check that they are in the right format. If they are not then actually downloading them from your PC on to the PSP will be much more difficult to do. So first off you need to check what operating system (firmware) is installed on your PSP and then you need to find games to download which are compatible with it.
Secondly you need to make sure that the file you have chosen to download ends in “PSP”. Often you will find that most games on a lot of sites where you can download them from have shared them with other platforms. So only those that PSP on the end are actually compatible with the Sony PSP.
Plus you will soon discover that a lot of the games available for the PSP have also been compressed so you will need some sort of compression application in order to uncompress them. For Mac computers you will use something like Expander whilst for PC’s which are running Windows then WinZip is often the most favored of all compression applications available.
Once these folders have been unzipped you will discover that there are two files contained within the folder that you have downloaded. Once folder contains the game itself and the other is a “read me” file which has come from the author of the game.
But in order for you to actually get the games you have downloaded off of your PC and on to your PSP you need to connect the two together. There are two ways in which the games can be transferred from the PC to the PSP. You can either connect the two together using a USB cable which connects into a USB port on your PC and the USB port on the PSP. Or you can use a memory, which you transfer the files held on to your PC and then plug this into PSP and then move them from the memory stick on to it. But using the cable method you will need to press the home button on your PSP and then go into settings.
In the settings menu you now need to go down to “USB Connection” and then press the “X” button which will then allow the memory stick inside the PSP to connect with your PC. As soon as the connection has been made you can then start to transfer the games from one to the other, but remember to put the files you are transferring into the right folder on the memory stick. So whether you are transferring PSP game downloads or other kinds of PSP downloads if not placed in the correct folder you will find that they will not work properly.
