Playing warrior in WoW gives a player many enjoyable angles. There are quite a few world of warcraft warrior guides that delve far too deeply on the warrior proficency in PvP or lack of and focus too much on jargon without giving a good overall view of what it is like to really play this class. This is a class that is good to play solo and in group and fun too. Here we shall explore why.
Warriors are gear dependant, you will always be told this and it’s true. But this is really what makes the warrior great to play. More than any other class the warrior can practically use most of the items available in WoW except magical items like wands and relics. Once at level 45 they are the only class beside the Paladins who can wear plate which adds to their already awsome power and makes them look really fantastic.
When playing in groups warriors are mainly used as tanks. This is a term derived from the fact that they both deal and take major damage filling the role as the “protector” of the group. In this respect they are probably one of the most essential member to have in a group to ensure success. Very rarely will a raid or instance be successful without the use of an effective tank and the warrior is the most effective one of all the tanking classes.
A warrior as in all classes in WoW has three main trees from which they can later on specialize as follows:
Arms Warrior – being one, allows players to have multiple talents mostly invoking abilities both for offensive and utility purposes. Two handed weapons are the weapons of choice for this kind of warrior giving the heaviest damage which with the aid of the “Mortal Strike” abillity will increases damge meted out exponentially during combat.
Fury Warrior – Is the preferred choice for those who want to power level quicky. They too will be leaning in two handed weapons specialization with talents like “Flurry” inflicting strikes that can turn a fight with one single blow. If you played Rogue, becoming a Fury warrior will give you similar stats and weapon damage with the added bonus of being able to plate thus giving you additional armor.
Protection Warrior – Very good warrior specialization for both offensive and defensive combat, often useful in group/raiding/instance runs. This is because these warriors are much more likely to last longer in combat as they rely on shields and sword mastery specifically. This is often the choice of warrior if you want to specialize as a Tank.
It should also be mentioned that whatever type of tree you build up, talents and abilities are limited in access by the stance a warrior assumes. These are: Battle Stance (Normal), Defensive Stance (Protection), and Berserker Stance (Fury). Obviously each stance will be more leaned to what kind of warrior you specialized into ie Beserker Stance for Fury Warriors and Defensive Stance for Protection Warrior (tanks).
